Reflection 15 -- Final Reflection

In this semester, I learn many things about teaching, it includes of how to manage the class, how to deliver the material, how to choose good techniques and medias in teaching. Micro Teaching class is very helpful for me since it gives more practices. I have two opportunities to teach my friends in front of the class. First, I have to teach Junior High School students, in last, I gave the material for Vocational School students. All of them have different characteristics and difficulties. Especially in the second chance, since I never experience to be a student of Vocational School, I do not have the previous experience how to teach the material. What can I do is ask my lecture, Mr. Prast and my friends who are graduated from Vocational School. And it is really helpful for me because they give me help a lot.

I learn many things from my lecture and my friends. When I perform in front of the class, there are two of my friends who become observers, and they give me a lot of suggestion about my performance. The most things that I should learn more is strategies on how to manage the class well because from my two performances, I cannot handle the class successfully. The students are very noise; they are busy with themselves and their friends. Sometimes, I can handle them to listen my explanation. But, sometimes they do not pay attention to me. And I still learn about it. From the two recordings of my teaching, I can see that I have less point in managing the class. Second is, my voice is too soft to be heard by students so many of them do not hear what I’ve said. I realize about that. It is very important thing to speak louder in front of the class.

I also experienced one more thing to improve my skill in teaching. I teach students of History Education of second semester. Since their focus is history, even though they learn English, the material should have relation with history. Afri, Ina and me should decide material by ourselves and we consult it with the lecture, Miss Novi. We also get many things from her. We teach around 35 students. Yes, we experience the real condition to be a teacher in front of class and we have to apply all of the things that we got from Micro Teaching class. It is not easy. Handle the students are needed more practices. In last, what I have got from Micro Teaching class is very useful. I hope I can learn well from my experiences so I can do my PPL well.^^

Reflection 14

Week by week, my friends always give me inspiration. This week, what can I learn is how to manage the class well. I learn from Christ and Dias. Both of my friends are very good in handling the class. Then, the students listen to them. Kinds of joke also spoken by Christ and it make the students not bored and enjoy follow the lesson. Dias can grab the students’ attention well. Her voice is very good to be heard and she speak in good way and make the students listen to her instruction. Yeah, all of the things that I got from the Micro Teaching are very useful for me. I can learn many things. I will practice and practice to speak louder and handle the class well. Time management is also an important thing to be considered. Hehehe^^

Reflection 13

This week, my friends use any kinds of media. I get the inspirations from them. The use of media is very useful and it will attract the students. Then, I also learn a lot from Riska. She is creative teacher. She always make the students more active by asking them to stand up for a while and inviting them to sing with her. The students are very attractive and love kinds of the activity. They are bore if they only sit in their chair. They need to refresh their mind and their body for a while as Riska had done. It is one of the alternative way to make the students happy and enjoy. ^^

Reflection 12

This is my second opportunity. Since I get materi for SMK students. I am very afraid because I never experience become SMK students so I do not experience the learning for SMK. Before, I had consultation with my lecture, he helps me to correct the materi. My materi is about guess handling. I decide to use power point in order to help the students understand well about the materi. In this opportunity, I have to teach speaking. First, I show the picture of a guest and a receptionist in the hotel when they talk. This picture is used to lead the students toward the materi. I ask the students to describe the picture in short and I ask them to guest what the materi is it. Yes, the materi is about guest handling in a hotel. Here, the aim is make the students be able to use some expression related to the materi. For example, good morning, what can I do for you? It is about the conversation between the guest and receptionist that ask some information about the hotel. Then, I deliver some materi using the power point. Then, I ask them to practice in pair then they have to speak in front of the class. Some comments that I got from my lecture and my friends as observer are very useful for me. Still, I have to learn to speak louder in front of the class. I also need more practice in handling class because the students are noisy and they do not pay attention to me. My friends told me I am to fast in explaining the materi. Good comment is about the use of picture as an introduction. Those are some things that I should remind in order to have more good teaching. Reflection 11

This is the second practice in class. First opportunity is given to Diana, Mei, Aurel, Dewi, Anya, and Afri. Our topic for teaching is materi for SMP and SMK. I learn how to be a firm teacher from Diana. Beside she can handle the class well, she also one of the discipline teacher. She gives the students time to be relax and serious. She teach the students well. I like the way she teach. I also learn a lot from Afri, she has clear and good voice. All of the the students in the back can hear her voice clearly. Nex week is my secod teaching so I ask her how can it be since in the first teaching my voice is not clear from the back. I hope I can increase my voice volume in the second teaching. ^^

Reflection 10

Vindy and Ina teach me about procedure text. What can I learn from Vindy is she is very patient in teaching the students. She always smile and I think it will make the students more comfortable and do not be shy to ask her. While, Ina also make me learn a lot of things. She is a discipline teacher. She ask the students to do the task on time. Both of them prepare the material well using handout which cover all of the material that the students need. One more thing that I can learn from Ina is she can handle the students who is noisy well. When the students is noisy and busy with their friends, Ina stand in front of the class and be silent from a moment. Then, the students realize what she do and they become silent to appreciate their teacher and listen again to the teacher. Thanks friends for a lot of learning. ^^
