Reflection 6

Septi, Febby, and Mei have their opportunity for Practice Teaching 1. They have 25 minutes to teach and manage the class. Septi teach listening skill, Febby teach speaking skill while Mei teaches reading skill. They had performed well. From them, I learn many things. Septi teach us very confident and deliver the material well, she gives set induction very interesting by ask the students about the moment related to the topic about “menyetujui ajakan/tawaran/undangan”. I learn from her how to make the teaching learning  works smoothly and make sure that all of the students pay attention to the lesson, there is a case that a students do not pay attention to the lesson while other students is answering the question.  Then, Septi ask that students to repeat the answer from other students. From Febby, I also learn how to manage some students to focus to the lesson, she ask that students to answer the question. Febby is very patient, even though some students are very busy with themselves or their friend, she can handle them and guide them to follow the lesson. I think it is a good point from her. Mei also gives me experience in teaching. She is a discipline teacher. While the lesson is going on, there is a student who plays her mobile phone. Then, she asks the student to give her HP. Mei wants all of the students to follow the lesson seriously. She cares with her students and wants them to success in that learning. All of my friends give me some great experience in teaching. I say thanks to them. Next week is my opportunity, I hope I can do the best ^^

Reflection 5

In that day, my friend Jervin also has opportunity to teach in front of the class. She provide us handout and give us the lesson about “Introduce yourself and others, say greetings and partings”, she taught us well since she gave clear step from one activity to others activity. I like her way in facing some students who do not pay attention to the lesson by asking them about what does the lesson about. In the end of her performance, Jervin is given some comments in order to make her better in next teaching.

After that, we discuss topic about “Classroom Management” with our lecture. First, how to motivate students based on the situation that happened at the moment, whether it is in good situation or not. Teacher should be able to know the students, how to make them more attractive in joining the lesson and how to give reinforcement to students who had motivated by themselves. Second, managing constraints. It is about the limitation/lack of condition in teaching-learning process. We learn how to handle that limitations and make sure our teaching learning process is not disturb by that situation. Third is managing the teacher’s role. Teacher as a center of the teaching process, she should manage class well. All topics that we have been discussed are very important and support us in practicing our skill in teaching. Those strategies should be applied in the real class to support the learning process.
